Easterleigh Cottage

Things to do

Things to do

The Cotswolds has many beautiful walks that range from a couple of miles and an hour or two to The Cotswold Way which takes several days. A selection of walking itineraries are kept in the Cottage for the use of guests, as are leaflets of local attractions. Alternatively, many visitors choose to cycle around the Cotswolds. Of course these activities can take as much or as little of a holiday as you wish.

Family weekend birthday parties from 2 to 92 have been celebrated, as have many wedding anniversaries. Outside catering can be offered for a special meal at the centre of the occasion.

Several of the local hotels have spas that allow access for the day and there is a public swimming pool at Bourton-on-the-Water. There are farms to visit, the famous “Adam’s Farm” from the BBC’s Countryfile is just a few miles away with many rare breeds. For the more mechanically-minded there is a toy museum, a motor museum and a preserved steam railway all within 20 minutes’ drive.

If that all sounds like hard work, relax in one of the many family-friendly country pubs or tea rooms or just wander around the many small shops.

Whatever the weather, there are the towns of Oxford, Bath, Cheltenham and Gloucester, each one famous for its architecture, within an hour’s drive.

Birthdays and Family Occasions

During the period we have been letting the cottage there have been a number of guests who have rented the cottage to invite their families or friends for a weekend or few days to celebrate special birthdays. So far we have had celebrations of birthdays from 2 to 92 at the cottage! It also seems to be a popular venue for parties attending weddings nearby. By renting Easterleigh cottage they have significantly reduced their costs compared with hotels, but have asked if anyone is available to cook the special celebration meal for the occasion that is being marked. There is an excellent restaurant in the local pub only a few minutes' walk away, but they have wanted a private celebration in the cottage itself.
